How much time passed?

I'm rather confused as to how time actually elapsed from the start of the movie to the end; at times it seems like months has passed (Yochi & Izumi moving away, and getting a new job, gets to know his colleagues etc), but then its sort of mentioned that a month has passed since the disaster... that seems too short a time!

So, does anyone have an idea?
Or its it meant to be like that, uncertain?

On overall though, I think the movie could, for its own good, been trimmed down a little bit.

Shoot straight, you bastards - don't make a mess of it!
