Too bad she wasn't tried in a Blue state
Vigilantism should always be illegal, however, just because someone kills another does not mean they belong in prison. The killer is a victim, too. It's not normal to kill. They need to get mental help in a facility and then rehabilitation back in society, if possible. The justice system is not about revenge but about public safety. Twenty-five years is too long. Based on this movie, we can't discern if she was truly abused. Regardless, she clearly wasn't well to commit this heinous act. It seems possible that she was exploding with rage as a result of accumulative abuse.
