Why the dramatic change into more of the same?

I just started watching this show and the first 5 or so episodes were brilliant! It was Russell and an analyst musing on taboo subjects and bringing it around by the the end to a very poignant conclusion.

And then, it gradually morphed into a typical late night talk show, ala Jimmy Kimmel, complete with guests and eventually a stage band...wtf? This started as a really good concept show that I would expect from FX and turned into just another pandering piece of crap.

Poor use of talent FX....really poor!
