If you wanna try demon possession....

Shouldn't you be staying FAR FAR AWAY from your family?

Classics are names that everyone heard, yet most have never seen!!

If you actually believe in it yes (don't think it would help though) but he was a non-believer looking for something to believe in so didn't think it would work.

reply

that make sense.... he thought no harm will bring to him.

Although the film is of course fiction not a few reviewers have taken its concept literally, to maintain that possessions are possible, so demons, angels, and of course god all exist. In other words they think that this film works in much the same way as God's not Dead, the most ridiculous and spiteful "film" of the year, to strengthen faith. That is pure, utter nonsense. Any real non believer would easily take the same challenge, myself included. Seriously, as long as I have the proper funding (nope, I am not insane enough to spend my own money to prove that religious fantasies are fake) and medical insurance, I have absolutely no problem or fear to do all the stuff this man did, and even more. The film is fiction and should only be regarded as such, not as propaganda.

Fanboy : a person who does not think while watching.

Health insurance a prerequisite for setting out to debunk demons existence?

If its all just a farcical fantasy exactly why would you need to have yourself medically insured? Nothing will happen, no harm can come to you by something fantastical and farcical like the Easter Bunny. So, why would that be a prerequisite?

reply

Well he did take some pretty serious drugs as part of the rituals...

this was a well done movie. but the point is if you dont believe something subconscioucly it truly cannot hurt you! if you do all this stuff this guy did in the movie and you have a slight subconscious fear within you that maybe demons do exist...then you will be in trouble! everything around us manifest according to our Subconscious beliefs. so be aware of the actions you take.

Obviously none of it is real. But it's possible to go insane in a short span of time, a matter of week actually. From completely sane to complete nutjob. He took lsd then dmt and who know what else. Not to mention all that weird crap. Plus you add 3-4 days of no sleep and you got yourself a possession.

The increase in human knowledge is the cause of the decline of religions.

In the context of the film, it was real. He was possessed. We saw things on camera - not through Michael's perspective but actual recorded events - that are physically impossible for a human to do.

If you mean possession is not real in the real world, OK, but anyone attempting this would have to be half-insane to start with and so should not do things that will mess around with their already seriously screwed-up mind.

That is laughable

Am I the only one who thinks the character was selfish anyway and it doesn't matter if everything he did worked or not? I mean rather than taking the time to help his daughter get through the death of her mother he starts doing irrelevant crap. The daughter already had nightmares anyway, he just made it worse. I think that's what annoyed me the most about him.

reply

Yeah, that bothered me too. I understand having grief over losing your wife but he acted like he lost his entire family when his daughter was still there and needed him more than ever. They should've just had both the wife and daughter die in the accident for his self-destruction to be more sympathetic.
