When Michael first talks to his sister and daughter near the start of the film, did he mention someone called Crowley? I thought he did, but wasn't sure who he was referring to, other than the presumed reference to Alistair Crowley... Anyone?

Yes. Alistair Crowley.Usually knowledge on anything Satanic can be linked to him. So many books available. I visited his home town couple of summers ago at Loch Ness. Creepy even now but people hate talking about him. it was like something out of the movies where you wonder in a village and people won't talk amd look at you strange.
