Not quite the same nostalgic trip the last movie was, but great songs.

The last Muppets movie was always going to be difficult to beat. In terms of a Muppet movie, it was perfectly judged and felt like one big, Muppet group-hug. This, not quite so much. Still a certain amount of fun, though.

Here's my quick, spoiler free review.

it's totally true the last one was a wonderful hug... but you can't keep making movies based on hugs or nostalgia... you have to move forward and just make muppet movies... MMW was just that... a fun song filled adventure...

i think that's the problem... disney needs to get new fans in there who want to see new adventures not fans that need nostalgia... (im not criticizing you) it's just that too many of the people who went to see the last one were older and seeing it for nostalgia sake... they really need new young fans... muppets thrived on kids plus adults not just teary eyed adults

I agree with what you say. This film did a fine job of making sure there was plenty in there for the kids. It must be very hard to strike that balance.

Aside from this one not being quite the same trip, in terms of nostalgia, the plot wasn't as good as it was in the last one.

Exactly. Would kids care about a caper plot? That was the problem there. I didn't hate the plot, but felt more should've been done with it to send it thru the roof.

I only liked two songs, which grew on me:
1. The Big House
2. The Interrogation

I do not count the Chorus Line song or the finale song because they weren't original.

You didn't like "I'm #1, you're #2"?

reply

No. Sort of dumb. In fact, what I think is funny about that song is that Constantine is calling himself piss and Dominic *beep* if you think about it.
