This one is a lot better than the one Jason Segal was in

Great sound track and better plot

Huh, we thought the comedy wasnt as funny here, and that the songs in this were so-so and slowed things down. Most the cameos are wasted & it was too long too.

All 3 of us prefer the original...

the Jason Segal one was more light hearted, more humourous and I believe captured the original spirit of the Muppet Show much better than this one.

I do agree the Jason segal version was better,

Yes, as I have said, the version that Jason was in (and co-wrote) dealt with the fact that the Muppets were past their prime. This film had too many cameos, a stupid caper plot (like Great Muppet Caper), and I felt relied on the Idiot Plot a little bit. Maybe if Jason had been involved, the film would've worked more. It isn't terrible, but not as good.

It seems there are a lot of varying opinions on this, but I agree with you. I liked the music and the movie more. It seemed like a real Muppet movie, while the previous one felt like an attempt to make a current film with Muppets in it.

No, The Muppets was better. Here's why: In The Muppets, which Jason co-wrote, they acknowledge that their shelf life has past and people have sort of forgotten about them. We see how they had gone their separate ways and do miss each other and try to get back together to save their studio. This film is like Caper, where the plot is about a robbery in London. Do kids care about that? No. I also had a problem with the fact that the Muppets seem a little dumb here. They don't realize something is wrong with Kermit when he isn't calling them by their names? It isn't like Kermit would forget, cold or no cold. I especially thought Fozzie was really stupid and wanted Statler and Waldorf to heckle him.

The best Muppet films are the ones that are about how they feel about things. This isn't one of them. No, it isn't a terrible film and one of the year's worst films, but they needed to really think what made the best ones work and do that.

This film is like Caper, where the plot is about a robbery in London. Do kids care about that? No
Do kids care about has-beens trying to make a name for themselves in a modern world?
Do they care about jealousy? (Toy Story)
Burglary? (Home Alone)
Or the overcoming darkness of depression and loss of self? (Inside Out).

Kids movies have been dealing with things like robberies, kidnapping, child abuse, mental abuse, and dozens of other things that you'd assume kid movies wouldn't really cover since the dawn of childrens stories, why couldn't they get behind a crime caper?

reply

I have the feeling that kids like Toy Story and Inside Out more for what the characters look like, rather than the plot. As for Home Alone, which I felt was overrated, the slapstick was what the kids liked.

Totally agree, I liked "Most Wanted" much better than the 2011 one.

I think "The Muppets" (2011) was too Disney-fied, way too self referential, too sappy and cheesy, and it relied way too much on the nostalgia factor.

"Most Wanted" had a zany plot, the songs fitted better into the story, it had more visual gags, and it was just overall funnier IMHO.

I LOVED the 2011 film! I really did , it felt like a love letter to the original show. "Most wanted" : I had a very , very hard time to stay till the end. It was just too crazy , It felt like it was written by Disney Chanel interns. I hate when they use a plot of bank robberies in Europe . The Muppet's excel when they show they have a big heart underneath everything. This is what made the films from the 70's ,Christmas Carol and treasure Island work, they made you feel all warm and fuzzy inside.
I felt numb to "Most wanted" and in all honesty , I found that even "In space" is a better film then this one.
The Muppets in "Most wanted" to me felt like "This is what happen when we forget the Muppets original fan base and take the Disney Channel audience as our main target!"
It was just very "Heavy" , I really was disappointed.
That is my opinion and I respect everyone who loved this film but I was not of them...far from it.

Yeah, the problem was that it wasn't written as well as Muppets. The songs do nothing to move the story forward, the cameos by actors aren't funny, and I also felt that the Muppets were too stupid to not realize something was wrong with Kermit. Especially Fozzie. He was so dumb in this, I wanted Statler and Waldorf to heckle him.
