I finally got around to seeing this one on DVD, and I have to agree with the minority here that ranks it ahead of the 2011 "comeback" movie.

I thought the 2011 movie was a disappointment that had a couple great scenes (like Animal in anger management therapy and the entire cast recreating 'Rainbow Connection') but the bland human characters had too much screen time and half the movie was emo Muppets feeling sorry for themselves.

Muppets Most Wanted had much better cameos (Jack Black as the "surprise" cameo at the end of the 2011 movie was a huge letdown), was much funnier and zanier, and put the Muppets front and center again. It wasn't the greatest Muppet movie ever made, but it felt much closer in tone to the Henson Muppet era, unlike the 2011 film that WANTED to be that way but ended up just being a nostalgia trip about how great those times were. My main criticisms with Most Wanted is once again, they failed to use some great classic characters like Rizzo (though they even made a perfectly timed joke about this) and the film almost captured the Muppets TOO well in the late 70s/early 80s, so much that all the "Russian Gulag" stuff felt like it was written 35 years ago and didn't make sense in a story taking place in 2014. I wish they could find a way to use that crazy Muppet humor in a modern scenario.

Anyway, here's my updating ranking of all the films. I feel bad rating this one higher than one of Henson movies, but hey, I had more fun watching this than Great Muppet Caper:

i like them all and even 8th i still liked the muppets a lot... deserved the oscar... but it's so serious and maudlin...

Wait a minute, Jack Black appears early in the film as well. He is at the anger management thing with Animal, then is in the telethon. So what surprise cameo at the end are you talking about with him?

My rankings would be this:
1. The Muppet Movie (c'mon, you have to admit it was great and touching)
2. The Muppets
3. The Muppets Take Manhattan
4. The Muppet Christmas Carol
5. Muppets Most Wanted
6. Muppet Treasure Island
7. The Great Muppet Caper
8. Muppets from Space

And the funny thing is that Muppets Most Wanted resembles Caper in that both films are about London robberies.

I've just recently watched The Muppets Most Wanted.

1. Muppet Treasure Island(First muppet movie experience and I know every line and song. I'm shocked it's at the bottom of some ppls list. I mean the villian was EVERYTHING!!)
2. Muppet Christmas Carol(Heartwarming Hilarious and a Christmas must every December)
3. The Muppet Movie('79)(Classic, the songs are catchy, The whole feel is old chill Sunday afternoon movie to me)
4. Muppets from Space(updated kind of love, more jokes that I get, song at the end was fantastic)
5. Muppets take Manhattan(kind of slow at times but it was good. Loved the big ending)
6. Muppets Most Wanted(just watched it and I thought it was cute. Maybe because the others before it are engraved in my memory and heart that I'm being a little rough on it but it just didn't entertain me as much. Couple songs were nice)

Still have to watch the Caper and Muppets('11)
