Seriously, what happened in the cameo department for Muppets Most Wanted?
I don't remember any cameos being used in a funny way whatsoever. The cameos were handled in such an awkward way. All I remember were a bunch of "oh it's that person who is moderately famous" in a couple shots (Stanley Tucci?? Is he famous enough to warrant a cameo?) but they were not utilized where they were part of a joke. It was lovely that Zach Galifiniakis made another appearance but that was like for 2 seconds and he was already in the first one. Did Danny Trejo count as a cameo or bit role since he recurs throughout the film as a inmate? Lady Gaga just adds one line to the opening song.
Christoph Waltz and Salma Hayek's cameos go nowhere.
Where were the truly funny cameos they had in the first one like Emily Blunt reprising her Devil Wears Prada character or Alan Arkin as a theatre guide who's completely aloof?

Cameos were the best part of the film but, when that's the highest praise you're giving, it's obvious that something is missing from the film.

I liked them. Stanley Tucci's was probably the funniest part of the movie.

I liked them I always like Muppet cameoes my only problem with them was some of their apearances were too brief like james mcavoy probably had 2 seconds screen time and so did a few others.

Lose the Game!!!!!!!

I largely agree with you. So many of them were pointless. It just seemed like, how many cameos can we get?

Some of the cameos flew by and some viwers may not recognise the British ones.

That was the case with me, I recognized maybe half of the them. I understand the movie is set in Europe but during the half the movie every time someone would appear for a brief second I was wondering if I was suppose to know who that was?!?

I liked the cameos in this movie, but somehow didn't recognize James McAvoy or Tom Hiddleston even though I'm a fan of their previous work. I listened to the record before watching the movie, so I knew about Bennett & Gaga and Josh Groban's cameos, but I was surprised at the form Bennett & Gaga's took, by having them appear as waiters rather than their own image of glamorous stars. Josh Groban was great as a disembodied voice who then appears very briefly in flesh at the end. Chloe Grace Moretz was one I hadn't heard about and was a pleasant surprise. Salma Hayek and Christoph Waltz were announced within the movie ahead of time, but were cast against type: Salma Hayek is not usually thought of as a circus daredevil and Christoph Waltz appears as a social dandy rather than the ruthless killer he plays in most films. Usher was a bit of a cheap pun, but likable. It could have used a few more hot chicks (the last movie had Amy Adams, Emily Blunt, and Selena Gomez) but Tina Fey got suitable screen time.

I think they did too many cameos and didn't use them with comic inspiration, like in earlier Muppet films.

It was just a case of fitting as many famous people they could.

This is also like in Around the World in 80 Days where they had so many cameos. For example, the piano player turns around and we see it is Frank Sinatra and we are supposed to think, "Hey, that's Frankie!" I don't think it works here. It is better for the cameos to serve the film, not just be cameos.
