And here I trusted Jimmy Fallon

I know, right?? I saw a quick preview a long time ago and thought I'd give it a chance. Watched the first part of it and immediately thought I might be in trouble but then I saw Jimmy Fallon was involved in the credits, thought maybe it was just a bad start and Jimmy Fallon humor will show through. Then the rest of the show happened...bad.

I felt like I was watching one of those overacted kid shows on Disney or Nickelodeon (Suite Life of Zack and Cody, iCarly, Hanna Montana, etc.) where the characters act just way too over the top and movements/expressions are exaggerated.

I really expected more from Jamie-Lynn Sigler but she turned out to be part of the problem - was she slightly limping btw? I thought the guy who played her husband was tolerable, not funny but major room to improve. The actress that plays Jesse Bradford's ex wife and Anthony Anderson are at a tie for being the worst part of the show. They are completely unbearable to watch but I'm unable to determine if it's the characters or the actors themselves. I didn't expect much from Anthony Anderson since he used to play in one of those overacted teen shows that came on Saturday mornings (I *think* it was called Hang Time) so he's pretty much right at home. Vanessa Huxtable wasn't on screen that much but when she was on she wasn't funny - still not as bad as her TV husband.

It was an interesting concept but poorly executed. I can't believe the pilot made it through. I thought the show was going to be about guys who were raising babies on their own or another show where the TV Dads are acting more laid back with their kids than the overbearing TV Moms.

Jimmy Fallon disappointed me!

I wouldn't call Jimmy Fallon hysterical, but he can be pretty funny. Honestly, I don't think Guys with Kids was bad. It had it's moments. I think the potential is there. All 3 guys are good and have chemistry. With the wives not so much, but with other yes. Considering the show mainly going to be about the guys I think that will be okay, but it is something they should work on. The biggest problem with the series is the jokes. They missed too much in the pilot. They have to hit more. Because of peoples lack of patience with TV today if something doesn't hit right away they are gone, so that makes me worried about this series future. But maybe the unexpected will happen.

I hope it gets better. The promos make it look interesting and funny.

What on earth was he thinking with this?? The show is so bad! And oh my god, that stupid laugh track! Who even uses a laugh track anymore??

reply

Fallon wanted to do a live audience sitcom because it was something most of us grew up with.

Well, growing up with something is not in and of itself a good reason to keep anything.

And no modern quality sitcom is done that way, not a single one.

I agree, which is why it's baffling how well CBS does (ratings-wise, at least) with those kinds of sitcoms. Last year Whitney, which is crap, was the only non-CBS sitcom to be renewed that uses the live audience/laugh track format.

Whitney is just painfully unfunny.

I was flabbergasted when I saw it listed in the Fall 2012 lineup.

And paired with Community, no less. Chalk and cheese. Crusty, moldy, smelly cheese.

You know, you can grow up being spanked too but...well, I guess it's something that depends on the person.

I think this show would be WAY better without the over acting..

Newsflash: Jimmy Fallon is not, has never been and will never be, funny.

For those of you in a Coma, this shows' for you as only a brain dead idiot could stand more tham 2 minutes of this dribble.
Hey they have another show for you too, it's called "the new normal".
If those who watch these shows are , in fact, the new normal - we're screwed.
