Maddie's boyfriend looks homeless

I do not understand the relationship between Maddie and her new boyfriend. She is a rich, would be singer, songwriter and he is a peddler on the street. How are we supposed to believe she is attracted to him; and not just attracted but ATTRACTED, attracted. She is all over him. This doesn't ring true at all.

And to make matters worse, to imagine that he is in any way enamored with country music is also hard to swallow.

Time for a reboot on this story line.
