Why would Adele do that if she's supposedly "gay"?

Seriously, she comes out as possibly gay in the film and then all of a sudden feels unhappy and then has sex with a guy. Really?! Come on! If she's going to cheat on Emma, then it would have been more realistic and accurate for her to cheat with women only. It's just making queers look bad, and a lot of lesbians were understandably, upset about it. Although there have been people who have said that she was still very much in the closet to most other people and she felt ashamed of herself for liking women during the time she was with Emma and that's why she did what she did, and even while she was sexual with him, she was completely not reacting to him at all. She was almost numb the whole time. But STILL! Doing that is terrible for the queer community. Good grief! Movies and shows that have gay men and women all of a sudden do something sexual with people of the opposite sex for no reason is just plain offensive and annoying.

Yep soooooooooo offensive. Meanwhile you just erased an entire sexual orientation: bisexuality. Is it not the least bit likely that she was bisexual?

Women tend to use their sexuality as a ploy to obtain a financial reward from their partner or from a voyeur. Men have sex to please themselves and not to obtain a financial reward from their partner.

That's true. It reminds me of that quote "women use sex to get love and men use love to get sex".

Or she was just bisexual.

Adèle seemed capable of forming connections with both women and men. Her connection with Emma was undoubtedly the strongest we see in the film, but that doesn't necessarily mean that she should, or indeed would, only end up with other women. Sexuality is more complicated than that, and can be portrayed in many ways. I would hardly call it offensive.

It seems that he was easily "accessible" so to speak. He was available right at her loneliest hour. He also expressed interest. Plus she seems more bisexual....but had the strongest connection with women. Per her kiss with the classmate and her initial courtship with Emma.

Bisexuality is a thing, you know.

She's obviously bisexual. I always find it ironic that gays spend years being told essentially that they're not REALLY the way they are, yet many of them will turn around and say bisexuals don't exist. Bisexuals are simply DIFFERENT from gays and some of them may even honestly PREFER heterosexual to homosexual relationships (although I don't think Adele does).

Lesbians particularly have this stupid idea that bisexual females are nothing but a straight male fantasy. But probably every one of them has dated a bisexual woman at some point, so I think a lot of them are just bitter, either because they had a woman leave them for a man or because bisexuals can more successfully assimilate into heterosexual society than homosexuals can. But as THEY become more accepted, maybe they'll realize that not every non-straight person is exactly alike.

I had sex with a lesbian at a club who was going through a breakup, so it happens (she insisted she wasn't bi, for the record).

Because bisexuals exist and this movie did a really *beep* job presenting that fact.
