Multiverse/Parallel universe

I may be jumping the gun because I haven't finished the movie yet but in the beginning the bees have died as so did the airforce guy.

Somewhere about fourty minutes in we see the bees making honey and the airforce guy alive with no explanation or tie ins.
Hmmm...
