Am I the only one who was disappointed?

Maybe disappointed isn't the right word, I don't know. I guess I expected something different, because Pixar usually delivers emotional storylines with lots of twists and turns. For a sequel that many expected to live up to its predecessor, I can't help feeling like Finding Dory fell short. It was a good movie, and I liked the new characters, the plot waut I think even some small changes would have improved the movie drastically. I think my main issues with it were the lack of realism and the fact that we barely learned any background on the supporting characters. The plot moved quickly in a way that wasn't really believable..I can understand stretching things a bit like the first movie did, but the end scene with the truck was way over the top, and for every moment of turmoil that the characters ran into there seemed to always be an easy way way out would have actually killed them) In the end I know it's just a movie, but after seeing well-crafted movies like Inside Out and Zootopia, this movie fell short. maybe I'm just too picky though.

Anyone else feel the same or am I crazy?

Ugh, sorry for all of the weird errors in that post. For some reason imdb's message board system doesn't work well on my phone.

A lot of posts on here about the truck, it violated the internal logic of the movie, which is something you don't see a lot in pixar movies. Other than that it was too much of a simple remake of the first one, but with a lot of forced inauthentic moments. Enjoyable, but certainly not a classic like the first one. It was better than a typical Disney sequel (lady and the tramp 2; cars 2) but still in the same vein. So, I guess you are not the only one.

The last act was a series of bizarre occurrences to forward the plot (I laughed though, a lot, and not simply out of shock) and the first 15 minutes were a blatant retread of the first movie.

Everything outside of that was great. Funny stuff, dramatic, sad, paced well, good new characters, some excellent direction (that tracking shot in the quarantine!), I liked it a great deal for the most part.

But yeah, certain aspects keep it below the original. Am I disappointed? No, not really. I expected a 7 or 8/10 and that's what I got.

I was not impressed. I felt no emotion watching this. The only thing I liked was the voice of little Dory.

I was a little disappointed... I mean, it's a good movie, but while I watched it I was always thinking about the plot from Finding Nemo and what it made me feel. I just didn't feel nothing with this one... Too bad...

reply

Really? I was surprised by how good it was. I loved Finding Nemo, but I never really expected the sequel to be as good. It was much more emotional and fun that I thought it would be.

reply

Very much agreed..this was the best of the two (this and "Finding Nemo" (2003) ).

Only thing I missed was Dory's saying playfully:
"Hmm mmm MMM" teasing Marlon.

Speaking of him, the important final installment can only be:
FINDING........MARLON!

i was disappointed... Dory was a highlight of Finding Nemo with her lightherted humour and songs, but in this movie it was only baby Dory that i enjoyed. Dory was just another boring Marlin with none of her charm.

I was more than disappointed. I think I was actually trying to push my finger through my temple. The movie was only 1:40 but felt like 3 hours. I couldn't wait for this movie to end.

I echo your thoughts. Terrible movie, only 1:37 in duration but I found myself yawning throughout.
