Oscar snubbed!

Unfortunately no one will find Dory at the Academy Awards this year.

reply

Darn it! It's actually a pretty good set of nominations. It just sucks that Finding Dory missed out.

reply

I think ever since the Brave incident, the academy have been much more cautious over nominating Pixar

reply

The silver lining I see here is that maybe people will shut up with the "Pixar always wins" routine. Maybe next year!

reply

It's weird how Brave won back in 2013 and Finding Dory can't even get a nomination...
I hope Coco will get nominated and win the award next year!

reply

Probably will if it's good. Like what else is going to win, it's looking like a dire year for animation.

reply

A snub is a movie that deserved to be nominated and wasn't. This movie was just a remake of the hugely overrated Finding Nemo. It didn't deserve a nomination.

reply

I guess in some ways it is not really a surprise since Toy Story 3 is the only Disney-PIXAR sequel or prequel to get nominated for best animated feature film.

reply

Well it didn't deserve a nomination
come on . compared to Finding Nemo this was a disaster
it was exactly the cheesy no-story sequel to every movie that are NOT suppose to have sequels

reply

i disagree. I think it's on par with FN. At least. You forgot to say "IMHO".

reply

I believe it did deserve one. I did like the first one better but this was great.

reply

I just saw it last night. It wasn't Cars 2, but it was Monsters U.
It was a sequel to a movie that didn't need a sequel.
It was OK. Just Ok. No way does it deserve an Oscar.
And what good would the nomination be even if it was nominated? No way does it even come remotely close to Moana or Zootopia.
And what are you guys talking about The Brave incident. That was actually a really good movie (it did win that Oscar after all).

Have you ever noticed that the people who say "DC is for adults and Marvel is for kids", are kids?

reply

Its not a snub. A snub (in the case of Oscars) is something that really deserved a nomination, but for some really crazy reason, didn't get one. (Think The Lego Movie, or Oyelowo). There also has to be a nominated film that really doesn't deserve a nomination.

Zootopia and Moana were much better storywise than Finding Dory, as was Kubo. And Kubo had absolutely gorgeous visuals.

The Red Turtle and My Life as a Zucchini both have more depth to their stories than Dory and are better made as a whole.

I really liked Finding Dory. It was good. But it wasn't quite good enough. And even if you sit down and make the argument that it was better than one or two of the nominees, it still isn't so far ahead of any of the nominees to make it a snub.
