"Is she dead?" "No." "awwwww"

Anyone think that joke was kind of messed up? Sure, Dory was annoying, but the kids were disappointed that she didn't die? It kind of made me feel sorry for Dory.

reply

I thought that was one of the biggest LOL moments in the film, personally.

reply

She is annoying as hell, but you still have that love for her.

Reminder: The O.C. resets to its first episode on POP network April 1 @ 2 p.m. EST

I kind of liked that part because it made me feel like my nephew is normal. He always gets weirdly excited when he hears someone dies and it weirds me out. He's 10. I know he's old enough to know what death is but I honestly think he (and tons of other kids) have no idea how serious it is.

reply

That's not normal, though.

Most children and even teens are what we would classify as sociopaths. Their emotional minds are not fully developed yet and this leads to inhibited empathy. People quite literally grow out of that.

Yeah, I thought that was weird.

A not uncommon impulsive reaction by immature kids looking to be rid of someone they find annoying. Everyone had fantasies about doing away with some undesirable personality as a kid.

Of course, you were supposed to be feeling sorry for Dory. The movie had just gone through her tragic backstory and she's now in the midst of reliving it herself.

reply

The entire theater (myself included) was cracking up at that line LMAO

Disney has always been dark like this. I thought it was odd at first but then was like, "that's Disney for ya!"

reply

Yes! I found that a bit dark and it definitely surprised me. Regardless if Dory was annoying or not. All of them went "awwwww" was like.... disturbing. Yes they're kids but to show it in a kid's movie.. damn.

reply

I agree. I was taken aback when I heard it and had to think about it for a moment. Did they really "aww" at the fact Dory DIDN'T die? Like, what the hell?
