Gabe sure is a jerk!

Spoilers...

I know that I'm not an expert and cannot say whether or not this guy killed his wife. One thing I can say, Gabe sure is rude, cocky, disrespectful... My goodness! From digging up his wife's body to move it to removing the flowers off the grave.

Even though he was proven innocent, his actions and behavior are what make him suspicious!

I agree, complete jerk. However, remember, being proved innocent and having a case dismissed are two entirely different things.

He was found not guilty....that is entirely different that being innocent....same as Casey Anthony. As far as the rest of your comment, you have to remember that this is a movie and even though it is based on a true story they dramatize it for TV.

Yes, I know that there are some events that are exaggerated but in some articles I read, Tina's father said Gabe was rude to him before they were married. Also the part about Gabe removing the flowers from Tina's grave is true. The police did take a video of Gabe cutting them and throwing them away. The sergeant was disgusted saying its sad that years after Tina's death, Gabe is still being cruel.

What I'd like to know is how the relationship is between Gabe and his current wife, Kim.

From what I understand his new wife looks a lot like Tina how creepy is that?! As far as him destroying or removing flowers from the grave, he can't do that any longer. Tina's father got custody of Tina's estate which includes her body...he had her exhumed and returned to Alabama and Gabe was court ordered to stay away. I haven't heard if there was ever a wrongful death civil suit brought against Gabe. I'm curious if that will ever happen.

That is good her father won custody of his daughters body and is moving back to their family plot, but at the end of the movie it said the father was still fighting. Did he win sometime after the movie was made?

Here is what it says on wikipedia....
Her grave was unmarked until 2009 when Watson provided a foot marker, prompting her father to request her body be returned for reburial. In 2011, the Probate Court removed Watson as administrator of Tina's estate, appointing her father who also wants her school and college pictures and yearbooks returned. Watson has appealed against the ruling and refused to provide the court with an inventory of Tina's possessions. Pending Watson's trial, the Circuit Court ordered him to stay away from the grave.[

I've wondered about the same thing. I'm disappointed that his new wife is so stupid.

reply

I'm only a 1/3 through it and I already want to reach into the tv and rip his head off.

Nobody is found "innocent" under the British Legal system used in USA and Australia. Verdicts are guilty or not guilty. Prosecution has to prove guilt, defendant does not have to prove innocence.

Gabe was an abusive control freak. He only wanted his wife because someone else wanted her, then he viewed her as disposable. He lied about the ring all along, and if he had stayed with her longer, he probably would have beaten her. I hope Tommy Thomas can get her buried in his family plot again.

Jerk is too nice of a word for him!

reply

I kept waiting for someone to shoot him.

His lawyer did a deal with the court to get him a lenient sentence. He was not found "not guilty", he was found guilty of manslaughter in Australia. His lawyer cut a deal for a lenient sentence and then he was able to leave. That is what sucks about our legal system. People who are guilty get off too easily and that's why he brought her here to kill her. Manslaughter is also on the table when it can't be shown that the murder was planned, but he obviously planned it before he even brought her here. Australia is almost like Mexico where people bring loved ones to kill them and get away with it.
