Wow, two reviews and five messages

...for a Jonathon Demme film! This is the guy who made Silence of the Lambs, one of the best films ever, that won the five major Oscars for its year. For a two year old interesting looking film, its crazy that there's barely been any buzz for it whatsoever.

OK, but I think we can safely say that of the three things we know about you, you aren't the kind of person who would enjoy a film like this anyway. You would be bored no doubt by the plots to The Master, Conspiracy, Birdman, Paper Moon, There Will Be Blood, Doubt, Inside Llwelyn Davis.

But that's still no explanation.

Ibsen seems to be an author that filmmakers go to late in life. Two years before his death Steve McQueen made An Enemy of the People after his terminal diagnosis. Demme, Shawn, Gregory are 72+. Ibsen's a rather difficult author. So are Gregory and Shawn. This is not a commercial project and it reflects a little of our time that it doesn't get the attention of popular press or even a sophisticated film audience. It did get a Criterion dvd release which implies it's one for the ages. Handsome production with no inappropriate opening up of the source play. Demme has made two of the great rock performance films and the best Spaulding Gray monologue. I think he likes the challenge of stage production for cinema. Whadayathink?
