I've always had a gripe with IMDb allowing companies to partake in vote stuffing, making this page complete and utter BS: http://akas.imdb.com/help/show_leaf?ratingsexplanation

Yeah, most of those are by silly Lithuanians voting for a movie, which they think is a masterpiece, because they've never seen Guy Richie or Tarantino in their little villages. Truth stings...

you are the funniest (and most obvious) shill ever.

"Yeah, most of those are by silly Lithuanians voting for a movie, which they think is a masterpiece, because they've never seen Guy Richie or Tarantino in their little villages."

yeaaaaah, in their tiny ole villages made entirely out of mudd, where the number one weekend activities are witch hunting and rain dancing. once a stranger arrived there with a "car", and was immediately burned at the stake for such devilish magic trick of driving around in a steel dragon. oh those lithanian savages. when will they hear about the achievements of the industrial age?

ironically yet they all have landlines with modified 110 baud modems, modified for the sole reason so that they can make their voice heard by rating this film, the first lithuanian film in full color and with sound, a full 10/10.

oh if they only had the technology to build cinemas and actually watch the film, what a proud and happy folk they'd be.

"Truth stings... "

that's so funny, i am glad i wasn't drinking anything whilst reading.

While it is true that it's almost exclusively people from the bottom of Lithuanian society that go to work in Spain (usually picking fruit of something like that), so it's not surprising if they leave a bad impression for the locals, assuming that they're somehow representative of entire population of Lithuania is outright idiotic.

However, judging by this part I have a feeling that you just made everything up:

Spain is for them the country in which: · they had their 1st mobile phone (some vintage Nokia or Motorola, you need a bag to carry it); · they had their 1st car (some shïtty VW Golf or Ford Fiesta); · they saw a DVD (disk or player - doesn't matter) etc. etc. etc.

Obviously it's you who doesn't know anything about the Lithuanians, not the person you were replying to.

70%-80% of pointed out by some_animal_instincts things are actually... quite true :D
In lithuanian's defense I can only say that said problems are with all Eastern European countries and that the mentality gap between them and Western part of Europe began long before Iron Curtain, that's for sure.

“Then, I want to know why you are saying that 70%-80% of my posting is true.”

Ok, ok – 90% is true :D

“Please, tell me which 20%-30% are wrong and I will correct them (explain to you). You know these people better than me? You live on this island? DO NOT % ME, okay???”

No offence, but you wouldn’t explain me a darn thing … as I am from Lithuania (dun-dun-duuun- What a twist!) :D
You are correct about cursing (although I would argue that it is a 100% Lithuanian trait, as I worked with a team of British electricians that would spew out “fOck” at a rate of a machine-gun); You are 100% correct about alcohol thing; You are correct about love for gangster/bandit movies (although it applies mostly for 90s generation); Not sure about “99 times you did good for them are forgotten” thing – I guess it’s 50/50ish situation here – some try to behave when around foreigners (going as far as hiding their own Lithuanian origin) and some very well may act like you described it; “Not learning new things” – again a 50/50 (depending what region of Lithuania they are from), but seeing as Lithuania is mostly rural – yeah, I can imagine your problem.
You are mostly wrong about us looking up to Russia, communism, Stalin etc. Despite of how our ruling elites trying to portray us to Europe - Lithuanians are 99% apolitical. It’s a fact. Yesterday we were in Soviet Union, today we are in European one, tomorrow we will end up god knows where – and nobody will turn an eyelash. The most closest thing to a political position is - "Everyone leave us alone!" mentality. About them “I’m a communist” – there’s a good chance he was just pulling your leg :D As we are aware that folks in the West perceive Soviet Union as some kind of Mordor and it is good fun to see westerner’s reaction to the comment (not to mention that the majority of elder folk remember USSR with nostalgia). About being Russian satellites – wrong again. If anything else, then for the last 23 years or so – Estonia, Latvia, Lithuania, Poland, Romania (Hungary and Ukraine at some level) are USA policy enforcers (with Estonia, Latvia and Lithuania basically being puppet states). Note, we are formally in EU, but we will backstab Europeans or Russians at the very first whistle from across the Atlantic :D
It’s not in the “Is it good? Is it bad?” level – it’s just how things are.

Once again I hope that you are old enough to understand that there is a huge difference between declarations of the elites (of ANY country, of ANY time period) and not-giving-a-sht-about-anything of the common folk. Same here in Eastern Europe. The common folk always perceived and will perceive the West as the proverbial “Greener grass on the other side” – place where the pay is good and you can get stuff, then return home and act (badly, I might add) as “nobility”. Most of them (depending on the age) care little or not at all about Western or common European values (majority don’t even know what they are) :D It’s not a big secret that EU accepted us only for 2 reasons: Cheap workforce and new markets. And not for some European Family reunion special :D To reiterate: if there is a mentality gap even between regions of a single country (US, UK, Russia - whatever), then a mentality gap between parts of Europe is a given. It's a historical and geographical thing.

See? Now, I'm at 90%. Can't you make it 100%? It's Christmas!! ;o)))

Even if I wanted to, but I can't as there can not be something fully 100%... to many variables. :)

And yes, I might be wrong about them but, believe me, almost all of them seem to come from the same mother. It's incredible. It's like somebody cloned a given mentality/ personality and planted it in various bodies. So that's why I apply these labels to all of the Lithuanians. It's like this: when you see 70-80 cats and all of them have tail, you will make this rule - "all cats have tails". Right?

Agreed. Even now I can sometimes hear people say that we didn't attain the needed age to enter the club, if you know what I mean. That we needed a century at least to sort things out back here. But hey, you accepted us yourselves... :D

P.S.

Merry Christmas to you too.

In Lithuania, it's downright impossible to get a good job if you don't have a college education, because 2 out of 3 young people are going to college these days. So, the degenerates who can't even finish high school end up emigrating to work *beep* jobs in countries like Spain, UK, Norway etc. You realize that these people are in no way a representation of the general Lithuanian population, right? And we're actually happy to get rid of them, now they're your problem lol. On a more serious note, there are places in London that are far worse that even the biggest rural *beep* in Lithuania. You can't judge a country by it's few worst. And most young people in Lithuania don't want anything to do with Russia and speak English as a second language. Lots of blood has been spilled to keep Lithuania free in the past, but I'm not gonna get into that now.

They call me "Wunderkind" (as in "Child Prodigy"), disregarding the fact that I'm 43 y.o. Why? Because they saw me replacing the memory cards on the memory slots of my PC's motherboard and, lately, I've told them how to send a multimedia message from their vintage phone. They were like "WOW, bliati!! This muttafaka has skills, bliati!".

Funny, considering the fact that Lithuania and Latvia have best Internet infrastructure in Europe. Fiber optics? Yeah, we were the first to get on to that, while the rest of the world were still stuck with their slow ass DSL. On thing I don't like when traveling in Western Europe is slow Internet (especially wireless) and worse phone reception. It's sad that you had to work with such idiots, but then again maybe you need a better job.

I'm not a racist

Racism is generalizing a group of people by negative stereotypes, "I saw a black man steal a car, all blacks are criminals", "a couple of Muslims blew up a building, all Muslims are terrorists", "Saw a couple Lithuanian alcoholics - all Lithuanians must be drunks" that sort of thing. So, by that standard, yes you're a racist.

Maybe, just MAYBE, you want to check these
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/List_of_countries_by_suicide_rate
http://247wallst.com/special-report/2014/05/15/the-heaviest-drinking-c ountries-in-the-world/3/

Alcoholism is a problem in Lithuania, but the Irish are still bigger drunks, so why don't you attack them with your moronic tirades? And suicides? Japan is in the top 10 by suicides too. Does that mean that Japan is a *beep* country to live in? No. It has to do with the country's culture more than the standard of living. Same goes for Lithuania. A lot of Lithuanians whine how bad it is in Lithuania, because they only compare Lithuania to countries like UK, Germany, France. They refuse to see that 85% of the world, including some countries in Europe (like Romania) are a lot worse than Lithuania.

reply

[deleted]

lol I'm not repairing anything here, I'm simply pointing out your obvious ignorance and racism. And your racist tirade didn't have anything to do with this movie anyway, and you yourself said that you did not see it, which begs the question: what are you doing on this board anyway? Just a chance to rant at Lithuanians, to whom you seem so angry and bitter towards? I mean, what happened? Did your wife cheated on you with a Lithy dude? Either way, it's wrong and racist to judge an entire nation or race by the actions of a few individuals. And that's all I have to say.
Peace. And Happy Holidays btw.

The guy who charges 66 EUR for downloading two movies and watches them together with the same drunk rednecks (how else would he know when these "drunkards" stopped watching).
What a miserable situation... I feel sorry for you
Btw - someone should inform that German guy who owns nine restaurants in Ibiza, and also your villa neighbors about your posts. That would increase the counter to 28 i suppose.

/\ Just earned you another 5% (making 95% in total). Especially the last one about The Police - it's like I just watched our local news or something :D Perpetrators can not be found because they left the country... Even some of our own politicians do it... so yeah, you got that right on.
About not paying taxes (your mentioned individuals being criminals aside) this phenomena might come with the habit, as some 70-80% of our own businessmen like to operate in the shadows (shadow salaries, shadow bookeeping, money laundrying etc.). So when the the worker comes, most of the times he doesn't really has a choice - either work by the employers set "rules", either keep on looking for another job.

People this was just an ironic comedy - do not take to heart. This isn't some kind of patriotic movie :D. Yes, this movie is not worth 10, 9 or even 8 rating, but still the movie is not bad and Lithuanians aren't like that as it shown in the movie. This movie ridicules Lithuanian people, who came from dark medievals, which is simply called The soviet union. Yes, most of those people are always drunk and *beep* but still those people will die soon or later and will remain normal lithuanian-european people. Nowadays lithuanians aren't like that anymore. Like I said before it was just an ironic comedy. This movie has showed the dark moon of Lithuania. It also ridiculed people from foreign countries, who says that Lithuania is somewhere in Africa near Russia... This movie isn't a poster of Lithuania, it is just a normal thriller-comedy, with a hint of irony.

Watched it for 50mins and had to switch it off, utter crap.

Yeah I figured there was something odd going on. Went in expecting a Guy Ritchie movie, what I got was a sad wannabe that was all over the place. Some parts were ok, but most of the time I didn't know wtf was going on even with subs. If this movie was produced by Lithuanians themselves them they did a horrible job portraying their own people. The Lithuanians were so annoying!! They were like ghetto versions of Russians, with all of their non-caring attitude but live and act like gypsies. I don't think there was a single likable character amongst them.

reply

The guy who directed it, is constantly being criticized for ripping off Tarantino (badly) and Ritchie in Lithuania. The last two of his movies were the same. The movie was crap, but no worse than average British crime movie and there are a LOOOT of those. British love their crappy crime movies. And no, most Lithuanians aren't like that, not even close. And including Lithuanians in the movie was a mistake, the translation to English was horrible, so I would understand why a non-Lithuanian speaker would be annoyed by those scenes.

reply

Well, it's at 8.2 now.

reply

Well I saw it for myself and it's a great movie. very funny, clever twist. I rarely note comedies as high as 8, but this is definitely the best comedy film of 2014.
Now maybe dumb americans don't get it, alright, that movie is not made for them anyway so who cares what they think ;) not me. It would have been sometimes funnier if it had subtitles for non english dialogs but well that's debatable as to whether or not it's funnier not to understand what crazy fat lady is saying as this put us in the same point of view of english characters.

reply

On DVD in the UK, but the release has poor picture quality: http://dvdcompare.net/review.php?rid=3516

reply

It is pretty unbelievable, considering how crappy is this "movie". The votes probably come from people that worked on it. Extras included, apparently...

reply

As a Lithuanian myself, i am not surprised. And yeah, I bet all those 10s are from Lithuanian fanboys. And its not because Lithuanians have low standards or haven't seen a good movie in their life, but because of hypocritical nationalism. Here we have a Lithuanian film with ok production Values, so all domestic people find pride and undeserved sense of accomplishment, just because its Lithuanian product, you know. A lot of people here are just like that, hypocritical patriotism is always on.

Another thing is that Lithuania has nothing going on in pop culture or whatever, so just having Lithuania or its characters in a MOVIE, makes Lithuanians excited, its a big deal, therefore they rate it like its second coming. Its a double standard.
