Strange film...

I know it's a War of the Worlds remake/re-imagining. That's not what I mean.

The FX scenes and many of the action scenes were decently done. However when the action stops and it's just the characters talking, it starts to look like a student film. Not to mention that the first rule of a character-driven film is to make the characters likeable, or at the very least, interesting.

It's not the worst movie I've ever seen, but it's not the best either. They should have trimmed most of the scenes where the characters are just yelling at each other and added more action scenes, or at least more quiet, thoughtful dialog.
