Mostly Mixed Race Aborigines.

Just started watching this. I love seeing other cultures' tv shows and movies that depict everyday life. I watched a few filipino movies like Insiang and Metro Manila. Great dramatizations of working class filipino life.

But what I'm not seeing on this show, is a lot of pure black aborigines except as background scenery. Im guessing few of them get much of a chance to be in movies or on tv as lead characters. I don't know much about the culture but I guess there's a big disparity between the mixed race aborigines and the full-bloods. Also it would be nice to see stories where they're just leading normal lives and problems without race being part of the story.

That is also something I noticed. I like the show a lot but I expected to see true aborigines not bi-racial. I just finished watching series and only saw two dark-skinned aborigines and neither were a big part of the stories they were in. I get the notion that their look is not desirable for Australian tv. Maybe there is a conflict between light-skinned and darker aborigines like here in the U.S. between black people. This doesn't help.

Exactly! I don't see this being addressed so Im guessing it's a touchy subject. This is worse than the whitewashing I see here in the US television shows. At least you see blacks on tv here though they're not always shown in the most dignified circumstances. But at least they're seen.

It's not "Aborigine" it's "Aboriginal".
And whether you have light skin or dark skin, you are Aboriginal, doesn't matter if you're only part or full blooded. You are still Aboriginal.
This is nothing like Hollywood white washing at all!
