Trying to Understand....

Where they were going with this? Thing is I didn't hate it by any means, the monsters were cool & the supporting cast was alright but again I have to ask just exactly were they shooting for with this rendition of Hellboy?

Freaking guy got on my last nerve, I mean is it just me or did he come across as a sullen pre teen? He was like a baby, screaming all the time. The way he talked, did this Hellboy have autism or something? "No I didn't! Yes I did! You victimize my kind! No! I don't wannnnaaaa!!" He whined like a bitch, I mean there's no nice way to say it. Dude talked like he had marbles in his mouth, I was surprised I could understand half of his dialogue.

Man I hope this series ends abruptly on this note.

It's dead and buried at this point. And that's a shame. GDT should had gotten a third one made.

F'n movie is terrible. I've watched it about a dozen times now, cause Hellboy-verse is my favorite comic. But god damn. This movie is bad. On every level. All of it. Complete misfire. And your point is the crux of the whole thing. Who is this movie made for? What were they out to accomplish? The best bit is the Wild Hunt stuff. The Baba Yaga stuff was pretty good, kind of creepy. I guess that's my end of list. I mean I enjoyed the Mexican wrestler segment, ludicrous as it was. I liked that this Hellboy had like, endless wells of optimism. You can clearly see the influence of films like Deadpool and Guardians on the production. This movie was by no means being its own thing. I mean the Gruagach was great. They did that real good. This one tiny part of him. Without the overall mythology... Well that's the problem with all this shit. Hellboy needs to be a tv show. There is no condensing Hellboy proper into a two hour movie. Can't be done. That's why GDT is a genius for overhauling the character the way he did. He took the broad beats and condensed them into a movie narrative and cut all the god damn folk lore. It's a shame, but that's the only way this can be a movie. He got it. Mignola hated it. End of story.

Hell, maybe we can shoot for a HBO series at this point. They’re doing a decent job (IMO) of “His Dark Materials”which as we know came out in the theatre's as “The Golden Compass” which was a one & done deal & then abandoned when it didn’t do well.

At least HBO is committed to finishing all of the books so that’s something. Maybe they can get ahold of “Hellboy” & have a go at it. 0ne can only hope.
