They did this show 20 years ago.
It was called "Alf" and as bad as it was, it was still better than this garbage.

As bad as "Alf" was it still was 100x better than C&B because it treated the premise with a more adult tone than this show does. Plus, the humor was actually funny, too.
The key was Alf was a full grown alien adult who had a life on Melmac, and his goal of wanting to go home was kept consistent through out the shows entire run. He also bonded with his human family, but including a simple goal of wanting to go home allowed the audience (young & old) to relate to Alf better because he had a very human desire which in turn made him likable and excused all of his misbehavior.
Crash has NO likable qualities to him.
He's not naive, or clueless. He's just rude, crass and chauvinistic. There is nothing about Crash that makes me care about him, or who he is (even as a puppet!). Hence, I have no reason to root for him like I did Alf.
