My Wish List for this Film... (spoilers)

I thought this movie to be highly suspenseful, decent enough acting. Decent chemistry between her and her house guest, and I thought even better chemistry between her and her work partner, but unfortunately that wasn't developed.

Furthermore:

Too violent!! Jeez. How could this possibly be PG-13? I, at age 45, had to turn away at times. A gun shooting right at someone's face is just tasteless TV anymore, and not attractive in the middle of the afternoon, 10 channels away from Nickelodeon when kids are flipping through! Come on...

Please stop using children as pawns of the psychotic. That little actor did a great job (as most kids don't in these films I think), but there was no reason Nick had to kidnap that kid and cart him clear off into the woods. They were already at her house (which was enough of a maze) -- they could have had a showdown there and she could have used her new alarm to get the cops over. Or better yet, the kid could have used the alarm and saved the day.

George Newbern is usually so great, so commanding, but in this movie, with his character once paired with this actress as a married couple, she who seemed to be a head taller than him, made him appear like a skinny minion. He did a good evil part though, when it was revealed he'd hired Nick.

My bottom line: Nick should never have killed. He should have been ready to turn his life around. George Newbern should have been the real evil doer after all. The mom -- and the viewer -- could have grappled with who to trust, which could have been revealed with shocking suspense at the end. There was real motive here -- the custody fight -- but it got lost somewhere along the way.

I won't ever watch this again though because of the violence. Shame on that.
