SPOILER: Why did James Franco WINK after the verdict???

I couldn't understand that.

Because earliee in film Mike was telling him about 'the wink'... Something writers do to each other in their writing. Like an inside joke.

Yeah, it was a little wink to Mike. When Chris used the phrase on the stand, I thought that it was a key plot element-- the revelation of a twist, though for the life of me, I couldn't figure out what exactly. I felt that I had missed something due to not being bright enough or that the film maker had failed in making a proper build-up to it. It seemed to have affected Mike rather deeply. The only thing that occurred to me, was that Chris was revealing that the speech he had just delivered was really something he had written beforehand and wasn't all that true. His speech does sound like an amateurish bit of writing and came off phony-sounding to me as he spoke it (which, at the time, I put down to bad script-writing, but it made sense when he winked at Mike, which to me revealed that it was all BS-- a bit of Chris' writing.

Was it improvised, or did Longo really do that to Frankel? If so, it could have been a confession-that he just lied, and he was guilty, of what he had been convicted of. I hope to see this movie. Did Longo ever confess to Frankel? This happened in my state, though I don't remember when it actually happened, I saw the story of ID Discovery. This man was EVIL!!! I don't remember hearing the motive for the murders. Seems like Longo is portrayed as a man, who just being in his presence, you can feel that he is evil. I wonder if that is what it was like being in his presence? Did Frankel ever say? My guess is, he will ask Frankel ever will witness his execution, if he is ever executed. Was the wink directly after the guilty verdict, or after being sentenced to death? I just wonder what his reaction was to being sentenced to death?

He actually did confess and gave details much later. Theres an article on it if you google. Very sick and evil man.

How AWEFUL!!!!!😞 Sounds like he was portrayed then, as pretty accurate in the movie? Also, did he really wink after the verdict was read? I remember in the trailer at the end, they had a part where Michael Finkel actually asked Christian Longo if he was indeed guilty.

reply

It was to let Mike know he'd been using him to make his story sound better. "To confuse the jury...sow seeds of enough doubt" .

Interesting. Did Christian Longo really do that after the verdict?
