Changed the backstory

If I recall the plot details of the first film correctly, didn't the writers COMPLETELY change the back-story of the grey lady for this film, as compared to what it was in the previous film? Seems very inconsistent.

I really am surprised that this installment of the series got such high reviews, because I thought it was a real snoozefest. Plus, there were a lot of elements of the plot that were too stupid to be believable. Quite a disappointment...
