Not bad.

Most zombie films really suck but this one was pretty neat. I think it could have been really great with more humor but it wasn't bad. It took the more serious approach and even with the small budget it still didn't feel that hindered by it. They let the landscape do much of the work. As far as zombie films go I'd give it a B. With this genre you either get a dud, a cult classic, or a hit, and this would be the cult classic. There's probably more of these types of films than hits, and more duds than can be counted.

I still await a zombie film that does what I would do in that situation. It hasn't been until recently that films have even been addressing the survival aspect of it all beyond the zombie threat. In TWD they use a prison for protection and grow vegetables, in FTWD they camouflage themselves with guts and hit the ocean, in Dawn of the Dead 2004 they armor proof vehicles and shoot zombies for recreation, in 28 Days Later they catch rain water and work on a cure, in Wyrmwood they wear body armor, in this film they live in their car, drink food juice when water runs out, pleasure themselves to zombie women. Each zombie film seems to add something, each film also seems to leave something out. There's always something left to be desired.
