A simple, well done modern zombie movie (Spoilers)

I liked that this movie focused more on the human condition that on over the top special effects and olympic class, cross country sprinting zombies. Unfortunately the genre is getting muddled now and all these mutations seem to be the norm.

It wasnt 5 minutes into this movie that I realized how much I disliked the pitcher and how quickly I related with the catcher - this was going to be more of a character study than 90 minutes of adrenaline. Aside from that this movie has all the staples of the genre, imo: Mobility, looting/scavenging, and the psyche of the human - how some are able to adjust (catcher) and others simply give up or refuse/shut out the new reality (pitcher).

(The Pitcher)
The encounter with the outsiders in the larger camp (via the walkie talkies) and the way the pitcher desperately keeps trying to reach out for human contact / stability was the defining moment for the pitcher. He wants to be around others, wants to somehow shut all this out with human contact/interaction. Im sure he has some good points, but they dont shine in a ZA. In fact, you have to wonder how/why have these two been together for so long when you compare him to

(The Catcher)
This is the guy I'd like to think I'd be in the ZA. He's not some action hero, nor is he some psycho killing machine. He's just a dude who's survival instincts have fully kicked in. You can hear through backstory that he was the one that got them out of that apartment situation they were stuck in for 3 mos, essentially enprisoned because they didnt stay mobile. His head is on a swivel and he doesnt make obviously terrible decisions all the time (like wearing headphones all day long...in a ZA), while they are in the pitcher's ex's house he's looking for useful items while the pitcher is grabbing up panties and perfume.

A great movie worth analyzing. Im sure many will side with the Pitcher for all the reasons I cant and have never been able to understand throughout the years.

He is the epitome of dead weight and was a burden to the Catcher the entire movie.
I didnt think the Catcher would have the balls to do what he did (at the end), but again, when you go through the conversations, they barely know each other and they both acknowledge they have opposite views on many things.
