Rainfall shower head

Why do they put these in every home they do? Is it a canadian thing? A hand held shower head is a must have for me. They are great for rinsing down the walls when cleaning the shower. The way the rainfall shower is, looks like it would be difficult to change it out.

Yay! I was watching and episode of Property Brothers last night and the woman asked for a rainfall shower and a hand held. 

They also seem like they offer weak water pressure.

Shower heads have a flow rate (GPM) gallons per minute. You can choose low or high, but they are pretty restrictive now (2.5 gpm being high flow).
