Pretty well done: Michael Wincott a revelation

Wincott has been typed as sleazy heavies, here he moves with a lighter touch, showing a lot of character.

Film suffered slightly from small budget, but it was a respectable effort at making a classic western.

Glad that the Standard and Variety reviews have got this one right- a traditional rather than cliched western- this is a little gem of a movie and agreed re Wincott- he gets a much more substantial role than he did in his previous western, Seraphim Falls and grabs the opportunity with both hands.

The light shines in the darkness and the darkness has not overcome it.

I agree...Wincott's performance was outstanding. It seems most western plots are just the same old tired drivel with nothing different except the actors playing in them; however, I still love a good contemporary western and I feel this one was well worth watching...much better than it's low rating here shows.

It was natural for all eyes to be on the Sutherlands....

Agreed! Wincott was great in this movie, IMO he had the best character of the film.

Does anybody else think that Michael Wincott would play a great Doc Doc Holliday?

While watching "Forsaken" all I could think of was Gentleman Dave was almost the same person as Doc Doc Holliday, just not dying of tuberculosis.

reply

Agreed!! He was excellent and would make a great Doc

I also agree, I wanted to see more of Wincott throughout. Overall, just an average movie.

Fantastic performance. Wish he had been the main character.

He's great in everything I've seen. He's definitely the bright spot in this otherwise dreary, trite film.
