Missing the funny scenes

I saw the short edition on television, and I have read the book. Though rather loyal to the book I miss some of the funny scenes from the novel. I can remember three: The part where Richard and others are stealing a christmas tree reserved for high ranking partymembers, the scene in the department store, where the female costumers are buying hand mixers, that break down as soon as the women turn them on, and the scene where a family is moving in to the building called the Tower, but there are no space in the house for a whole apartment, so the family gets a kitchen in one apartment, a bedroom in another etc.
The issues in the movie are more serious and do not show a fair picture of the book. I know it is impossible to depict all the scenes in a big novel as Der Turm, but other issues as conditions for writers and other artists are only mentioned marginally. Still I think the acting and the chosen scenes from the novel were good.
