Copycat of bad 80's flicks

Over Halloween I watched a bunch of Roger Corman and Corman-esque movies from the 70's and 80's. They often repeated themselves.

This movie feels and looks like an updated version of Inseminoid, or Dead Space (which itself was a total copy of a previous film made a decade or so earlier, although its fun to see Bryan Cranston who shows he can still act even if its in a bad film).

The set of the moon is worse than Space: 1999.

I watched this after watching Last Days on Mars.

Night and Day difference!

This is a bizarre film that really feels like it is from a different era. Although, as I have read the track record of who directed it...might be the director is stuck in a previous era themselves? Its hard to believe that Roger Christian worked on Star Wars, but, his directing experience, Battlefield Earth for instance, seems a bit rough. Although, I agree that the acting is not the worst, and I like most of the actors. Can't say Brendan Fehr fits a 'Doc' type character!

The problem with this film is from the opening you knew it was going to be sub par, going through the motions. Absolutely no characterization. Look at a movie like Last Days on Mars. It doesn't take a lot, but, that film establishes who the characters are from the get go, as an example. This movie starts on a crap set, no people for several minutes, then, BAM, people in jeopardy we do not care about because the were not introduced.

Number one mistake of any B movie, or film that could have done better....establish your characters, even a little bit, and the audience will care more, even if just a little.
