A lot better than I expected

"Stranded" is not a gem. It's also not a great movie. It has underdeveloped characters and cheesy set locations. But despite all of that, it still stands as a decent thriller punctuated by some good moments of horror.

You just can't go to this kind of movie hoping for a masterpiece. Fortunately, it's a lot better than it seemed at the beggining. Might not be claustrophobic enough, but it sure has some very good acting from the four leading characters, nice suspense and most of the situations are quite believable. Not bad for a B-movie.

Recommended for the ones who just want to chill for 90 minutes. There's nothing wrong on being low budget.

"nice suspense and most of the situations are quite believable."

What? How wait WHAT? :D Nothing was believable imho... The plot points were so contrived it was amusing. The suspense consisted of:

"How stupid can you make your characters in order to make the main twist work - and still feel like the movie hasn't already imploded?"

As such it was entertaining and suspenseful: I couldn't wait to see what the next cheesy bit of dialogue and stupid antics the script would bring. But even that got boring as the movie literally plays out like a game of pong for a good portion. No - they really just run back and forth.

I did not expect a masterpiece, but I don't know if it got better? I mean it's only redeeming point is how bad it is. The acting is passable, but that is not the problem. They all play it serious, but they make such outrageously stupid assumptions they are all basically imbeciles. This could have been awesome as a spoof movie, but no - we are supposed to believe they are astronauts, technicians and doctors and take them seriously.

A missed opportunity to make a cult classic if you ask me. The same script with a different direction and some tweaks to the lines and better delivery from the actors and this would have been golden!

Thanks for the honest review OP. I am going to give this a shot tonight. I love B-Horror/scifi.

Yeah, it´s a decent B-Horror movie, much better than Prometheus, which is really not that difficult.

I want to see it. I love low budget, indie scifi. But movies in NYC are 13.50-15.50, which really doesn't even justify huge budgeted blockbusters. There's an indie/art house theater in my neighborhood that's only 8 bucks. I hope it shows there. That's where I saw Moon, Blair Witch, 3:10-Yuma, and Iceman.

If anybody wants a nice movie going experience seeing a secondary movie, Kew Gardens Cinema in Queens. Really nice little place. They just upgraded to high definition picture and sound. And for a discount theater it's classically decorated and spotless.

I have to agree. The acting was very good, the suspense decent and it at least tried to be believable. You have to be someone who has a taste for B films to find it worth watching as it won't convert any new fans to the genre.

reply

ROFLMAO You have got to be kidding! This was AWFUL! The acting was terrible & the characters were idiotic morons who didn't even act like believable astronauts, doctor nor scientists! And as far as ratings go, this is no B-film, it was more like a P! Although it was okay in a few spots, it still sucked.
4 out of 10 at best and that's pushing it.

LOL 4 out of 10 is being generous. Decent actors in a TERRRRRIBLE movie... Where were they stranded? In a theater stage??? It didn't even look like they were on the moon.

Seriously, I have seen worse, even high-budget stuff. That is not saying that this was good, but embarassingly many AAA movies are worse, worse tempo, worse acting, and worse dialogue.

I liked it. Maybe I'm easily amused,...ha!
