Zoe and Vicky I'm a little confused.

So, I get that Zoe and Vicky are both his girlfriends. But why does he leave Zoe to find Vicky? Was it because Zoe was pregnant and he couldn't deal with that? It's not like he was going to have to make a long commitment to the kid. Although I guess any commitment would be life-long.

I imagine he said something about this early on in the film but I wasn't paying too much attention at that point.

There was even a moment when I thought Zoe and Vicky were the same person and the earlier scene was a flash back.

Why was James so intent on seeing Vicky?

He was intent on getting to the party as a distraction/way of avoiding the pain of the fireball (which was going to be only momentary) that was going to consume them all-he did state this at the beginning of the film with Zoe-Vicky was part of the distraction at the party but he really was just avoiding the 'commitment issue'.
