shareScrew Amy. She's a great character but an absolutely hateful human-being. She deserved to be screwed over by that couple, especially considering how she no doubt looked down at them as a pair of uneducated rubes.
How anyone can have any sympathy for Amy after everything she did to Nick, let alone poor Desi, is beyond me. They'd have to be the world's biggest misandrist (yes, it is a REAL word people) to root for her.
I love that couple. They were the true heroes of the film. If it hadn't been for them, Amy would have gotten away with her hateful plan and poor Nick would be screwed for life.
Plus, I love how a pair of poorly uneducated hicks were the ones with the smarts to outwit snooty, Ivy League educated, uppity, 'oh-so-smart' Amazing Amy. That had to hurt her oversized upper-class princess ego. LMAO.

You are so right. They are kinda the hero's, and maybe the last line that lady gave " there's people out there a lot worse than us " is a direct reference to that idea
shareI don't think we're supposed to like them, but they're there as a sort of contrast to Amy. Both are villains, but Amy is out of her element when dealing with brute force street criminals like them. Amy is at home in urban social circles where she can manipulate people and use the media.

shareI just felt like it was anti-climatic when I first read the book and it got to this part. I don’t know how I was expecting it to end but I found Amy’s interactions with these characters boring (and she was basically asking to get caught the more she hung around these people), and when she got robbed her story became more of a letdown.
