Isn't Becca supposed to be incredibly smart? *spoiler*

If she is supposed to be as smart as they are playing her to be, I really have a hard time believing that she never even considered that she was carrying Marshall's baby...
I know it was a difficult time. But within a nine month time period, she should have thought about it. That is what surprised me. Even if they had taken precautions - still!!
Just my two cents. :)

are you being racist by saying that black people date-rape innocent white girls and rape them and impregnant them?

That is what we are saying.

The black baby is what will kill this show.

Notice that she had the baby three weeks earlier than expected, for that explains a lot right there. Like some people, she didn't realize that she was pregnant until over a month into her pregnancy.

That is obviously what happened - she was pregnant earlier than she thought she was - but wouldn't the doctor at some point have told her how far along she was?
And then she should have just done a little bit of math.

Yes, obviously she should have realized that Marshall could have been the father of her baby, but then the final episode ending wouldn't have been as surprising.

It's a sitcom and often the writers just don't write everything as logically as they should.

Yes, but that's the type of reveal usually reserved for dramas. Sitcoms are generally supposed to be more straight-forward than that - funny surprises rather than dramatic surprises.
I was pretty annoyed by that change in the ending and I doubt too many people were laughing at it. But it will be cancelled so it doesn't matter anyways.

I can't understand why everyone was so upset by the ending. Marshall and Becca were a couple and split up. We don't really know why they split up, but they didn't seem bitter toward each other. She only started hanging out with DB because she thought he was the father. I don't think she was in love with him.

To me the ending was a funny surprise. I was really happy Marshall was the father. I'm just disappointed I won't see them get back together on screen.

I think we're only upset for DB (at least for me). I also don't think she loved DB and I do think Marshall and Becca are significantly better off together and I like both of them and am happy he's the father. However, I was watching the ending from DB's point of view and my reaction was "they just up-rooted his entire life, made him go through crap for her, and she didn't even know who the father was?" I felt really bad for him, to the point that I couldn't be happy for Marshall.

I think most people would have had a different reaction if we knew there was a chance that Marshall was the father ahead of time. Even if it was just a second of doubt that we saw from Becca, then the ending wouldn't have been as shocking and we could have felt happy for Marshall rather than being upset for DB.

Shouldn't Marshall have been wondering as well?
