A nice way to say goodbye.

I think every series that gets you attached to the characters like this one does, should have a proper goodbye. This one is a nice example.
But I don't know what's the best way to do it: A look behind the scenes, like House gives us, or a glimpse of the rest of the lives of the characters....
(I was kind of alienated by the end of Dexter, but liked p.e. also the ends of Six Feet Under, Queer as folk...)
