"Last Chance..."? SPOILER, plot-related

Did anyone else attribute more significance to the line "Last chance..", right before Kate went swimming (half-naked, I might add)?

I feel like it was'nt only Luke's last chance to go swimming, but it actually was Luke's last chance to hook up with Kate, but maybe i'm reading more into this than I should (considering the dialogue was improvised, after all).

I feel like their mutual sexual tension changed after that; Kate and Luke break up, which kind of released the pressure of the entire both-being-in-different-relationships-but-being-into-one-another ordeal and Kate even goes on to rebound with Dave (when Luke might have been the obvious choice) and even momentarily tries to get with Luke again.

I've only noticed this on a re-watch, already knowing Luke's not gonna sleep with Kate.

Maybe there's nothing there, but still, it did make me go "..ha" for a moment.

Thoughts? Also, beer?

I didn't attribute any significance to it. He had plenty of opportunities to cheat after that evening.

First, Kate was completely naked. Luke managed to resist her siren call to go skinny dipping with her. I knew if he did not go in the water with her at that time that their relationship would never be consummated.

I don't think there was a last chance. The film left us hanging, deliberately. Jill obviously has her own issues that suggest she is incompatible with Luke and their relationship may not last. What is the future for Luke and Kate? We don't know. So frustrating, grrr...
