Why is the rating so low?

The reviews are out of this world but the imd rating is already at 6.5? Which means it will probably end at around 5.5.
Anyone explain why?

Acting? This movie's a documentary.

The kids are not actors and you can't fake the obvious love they have for Rocky. I do not believe you saw the film at all.

To even suggest that this Documentary tells a "terrible" story with "terrible acting" is the most inaccurate and ludicrous comment EVER! Bar none it is perhaps instead the most loving, beautiful and moving story I've experienced and also the most inspiring. What are you like 9 years old? All of the honors and awards already received are most well deserved, especially the TWO big ones at Sundance! A MUST SEE!!

Allow me to interpret the user ratings.

The film was clearly voted on sight unseen, at least initially, by one or more malcontents (with alt accounts) who are probably resentful of a film that seems to show Indian adults, and India itself, in an embarrassing light. It may also be a sign of backlash against a film that seems to have downplayed what is perhaps accurately describe as a Christian mission among Hindus. The 14 "1" votes raise a flag because they make up 3.7% of the total, a sign of vote-rigging if ever there was one.

Once the film was released, the votes of the malcontents were cancelled out by the majority of IMDb users who don't have much of a stake in the film either way.
