Crappy movie outside the great job by Lavin + Yulin

I really can't stand movies where slackers are "celebrated" or at least are the central character. Nathan's charater made me want to throw up. Partly the acting and mostly the script. Such a whiny p@s)&?$. Erika's "I'm out the door" speech was dead on. Given that Nathan was the central character I would have expected some kind of message, change, insight, . . . Nope, he just kept on going being an ungrateful, rude, whimpy, self-centrered bowl of oatmeal. It's not cute and most importantly isn't entertaining.

I can suspend disbelief only so much. After all Nathan's whiny bitch "call me" "I miss you" yadda yadda, Nathan blows Erika off, when there is a shot, for Shelly who he was embarrassingly rude to. And she kisses him. I can see that a man wrote this (either that or a woman who was pissed off at men and wrote Nathan's character to be absurd).

Jack's character was a waste of dialogue and why even bother having the plot thread with Alex. I don't get it.

The only good part about this movie was Lavin and the gentleness of her character and the motherly love she showed. Good acting. That made me stay with the movie or I would have shut it off to go throw up.

If i were the writer I would have gone deeper with Shelly as an antagonist to Nathan. When she asks "If you don't think I want to hear about it . . ." I was stoked, good, here we go. Unpack his character and . . . Nothing!

I could go on but I don't want to waste more time on this C+ Movie.

"...unpack his character..." Excellent! If only...

In the end when the mom says it's cold, she's going to turn up the heat and Nathan agrees . . . that's where I thought he showed a kernel of growth. Otherwise I'm with you all the way, pcleary99.
