Demonizing Pot Is Annoying

I'm sorry but the demonizing of pot or the character of Noah because he smokes pot is completely stupid. First of all if your a teenager and you claim you never smoked pot your either a liar or deeply religious same goes for watching porn everyone's done it. Plus with all the new sh!t kids are doing to get high for example, snorting adderall or bath salts, choking themselves, and my brother told me something gross where they know put the bottle of alcohol up their ass because apparently it gets into the blood stream faster. Jesus is pot really that bad? No I would rather my kid well future kids to smoke pot then any of that other sh!t. I get it's a family show for families and young kids but the people who won't watch this isn't due to pot use it's due to them being ignorant bigots and not liking that they're showing a lesbian couple with kids. Freaking closed minded idiots

You do realize that Lena is a vice principal and Stef is a police officer, right? It's not exactly like either of them could come out and tell Brandon or Jude that they are okay with them trying out pot.

That's total bull sh!t of course they can say it, maybe not at work but at home. Again pot should be legalized in all states.

I am a profoundly liberal woman from Washington State who voted in favor of legalization (although I've never used pot and have zero desire to). I desperately regret voting yes as do many people in my state. Why? Because the number of marijuana related car fatalities has doubled. It's more than that. I live in a very rural area and there's only one major road to get to town. It's no longer safe! Pot smokers are constantly weaving back and forth, either driving too fast or too slow. My experience is that reckless driving has increased by five times since legalization. My mail box in town is next to a marijuana store. Every time I pick up my mail, I see somebody come out of that store, light up, then get into their car and drive. Every. Single. Time. I'm sorry, but if your right to get stoned means I don't have a right to safely drive to and from town, then you don't deserve that right. Too many are abusing the priviledge.

Another thing, I used to LOVE going to outdoor concerts. No more. People light up and the smell is nauseating to me. Of course, they aren't allowed, but they do anyway. What I've discovered is that stoners are very militant about what they percieve is their right to light up wherever and whenever they choose. Voting yes to marijuana is my biggest voting regret ever. I helped give them their right and they refuse to respect MY right to walk down a damn public street without breathing that garbage. I always believed that if people want to put drugs into their body...that should be their right. But it shouldn't be their right to force it on me.

This claim is such BS. Regardless of legalization, the same exact people who smoked before are smoking now. And same with driving after smoking. The OP is right. Pot is so demonized when it's actually alcohol that's the silent killer, NOT weed.

I agree 110% Scott. But most people on this board are pretty small minded when it comes to medical marajuana...Really just small minded in general.

It's been discussed before (too lazy to dig the thread up,) but Jesus is definitely a pot head. There's an episode in which he's wearing a shirt printed with marijuana leaves. I don't think the Foster mama's are anti-marijuana, they're just being cautious because Jude has been going through his own set of issues.

Not saying pot is bad or good, but pot can lead to poor choices for instance driving while stoned and causing a fatality. It's become a problem in a lot of places.

I'm 29 years old and I've never tried pot or any other illegal drugs. I've never wanted to and I applaud shows like this for making it look so bad. I'd hope if I had kids and raised them on these types of shows it would stick with them as well. I don't have a problem with using it for medicinal purposes FYI

Nope. I'm an atheist and I have never smoked pot. And yeah I have watched porn. Just not interested. In either.

Plus with all the new sh!t kids are doing to get high for example, snorting adderall or bath salts, choking themselves, and my brother told me something gross where they know put the bottle of alcohol up their ass because apparently it gets into the blood stream faster. I'm sorry but that's a silly perspective. It's like saying "smoking 2 packs a day is not going to harm you. I mean, you could be doing crack or hitting your head on a wall until you bleed so tobacco can't be that bad, right?"
I'm not saying marijuana is harmful. I'm not a scientist. But just because kids are doing worse *beep* doesn't mean they should be doing pot.

And I don't think the show is "demonizing" it. A couple of seasons ago, Brandon got high and went paranoid (yes it happens, I've seen it) and Lena had his back. She didn't lecture him or punish him. She just said she loved him and asked if he had learned his lesson. That's hardly "demonizing".

Thanks, great post.

The OP sounds like a teeney-bopper trying so hard to prove themselves as a 'bad-ass' it's actually hilarious in their pathetic attempts.

Not gonna lie, I think the show kind of demonized the whole Brandon pot experience. The didn't even show him smoke it, they copped out & had him eat a freaking pot brownie. I've eaten edibles, it's not the same buzz. Notice how Brandon didn't have a good experience? They weren't going to show him having fun & just relaxing. Of course he got extremely paranoid & damn near freaked out & was all, I'm never doing it again.

With Jude's pot experience, it's a little more realistic showing him not just trying it, but actually enjoying it. I think the reaction has been a little dramatic. I just hate that on tv shows, the main kids are always the ones who try it once but never again. It's nice to see a little change because kids do smoke pot with no problems. I will guarantee that they'll give Jude some awakening where pot is "bad" & he quits.

Most pot smokers I've had contact with are useless sons a bitches, crazy. They are not dependable and only care about doing nothing but sitting around smoking weed. I abhor weed.

RIP Gene Wilder. RIP Barbara Hale. You were great in Perry Mason. RIP William Christopher.

I never smoked pot when I was a teenager and I certainly wasn't deeply religious. I watched porn in college with friends...it was disgusting. In any event, back to the Fosters. I don't think the show is "demonizing" marijuana at all. First of all, Steph IS a cop and it is illegal for someone without a prescription to use it. Also, Jude is YOUNG. Isn't he supposed to be 14 or 15? Even if pot were legal, it wouldn't be legal for someone that young to smoke it. As for Noah, it's illegal for him to give away pot to someone without a prescription. (IMO, his doctor is a quack for prescribing it to him anyway...but that's another story.) Yes, it could be worse (like Mariana's adderol addiction) but that doesn't mean that the Fosters should be ok with Jude breaking into boats and smoking pot with someone he's not allowed to associate with. They ARE his parents after all.

As far as I am concerned Steph and Lena are VERY lenient with their kids. I would have been killed for doing half of the stuff that these kids do.

FWIW, I do think marijuana should be legal...but only for those over age 21.
