Where was the smoking?

In 1960, practically everybody alive smoked yet not one main character is seen smoking. In Las Vegas no less. So much for realism.

there's A LOT on this show that panders to 2013 sensibility rather than attempting to be realistic...

Like the fact that every car, suit, piece of furniture, etc. looks BRAND NEW!--shiny, bright, and in perfect condition--nothing ever looks like it's been in use for five or ten years or longer.

And 2 women--one in the casino and one in the D.A.s office are in positions with extreme amounts of power--not really believable for 1960. Not impossible, but it comes off as a revisionist fabrication.

Some people say it's inappropriate to use the word "retarded." Those people are retarded.

Like other recent 1960s period shows, other than Mad Men, it's a good cocept poorly executed.

reply

Much like ABC did with PanAm,BTW!!

Smoking is frowned upon in broadcast television for general audiences, even in a historic setting. If this was a cable show, everybody would have been smoking up a storm.

reply

Indeed.
