What year is this supposed to be?

The real Sheriff Lamb took office in 1961, but I see a 1965 (definitely) Cadillac ambulance in episode 7. Maybe they are just lazy and assume most people have no idea what car is from what year.

I imagine there are dozens of goofs like this. But they could have found a beat up 1959 or 1960 ambulance around instead of a concours version of a 1965 Cadillac ambulance. That thing was pristine. It looked better now than it ever did in 1965! LOL.

I know it's been a while since the show was canceled, but can anyone tell me what truck did Jack Lamb drive? I've searched all over the internet, still can't find it. Thanks.

Jack drives a 1963 D Series Dodge pickup, which has a later model bumper on it.

The car years are easy to spot for most people over 60. That's because car models in the 1950s-1960s changed dramatically during that time period. In this series are cars and trucks from 1963-1965 yet they feel compelled to tag a year of 1960 on it. I know that there are a number of car clubs in Southern California with a bounty of cars from the late 50s they could have rented inexpensively. So sad, because the stories were good in this series.

I am currently watching for the first time on Amazon. Enjoying it very much, can't understand why they'd ever cancel such a great show with great potential after only one season. I wish they had been an HBO or Showtime venture, if it had been, we would have gotten quite a few more seasons out of it.

That being said, they may as well have called it the anachronism show. There are SO many things (the most egregious being the cars) found in this series which didn't exist in 1960 that they're too many to list. Some are just glaring, like episode 19 where the drunk guy vomits into the "Brand New, fresh off the dealers lot) 1957 Thunderbird. Or when the DA goes off the road in a 1963 Thunderbird. The Cadillac ambulance you mentioned too.

It's not just the cars either, it's also in the language they use, many of the words and expressions didn't exist at the time. Appliances, phones and many other things are also WAY out of place, some reaching forward 30 or more years. In one scene where Jack is meeting with Mia outside near a wooden fence, you can Clearly see a very modern gas station overhang which looks like it's got at least twenty pumps under it.

It was a mistake pegging the year down, they should have just worked around the date and kept it as an unspecified time period in the 1960's.
