Do you think Pixar will do better with the subject?

This movie was OK and liked some of the creative aspects (mainly the Underworld realms & the characters looking like dolls), but I can't wait to see what Pixar can bring.

At the very least, we won't get the pop songs or the lame humor. The Book of Life was okay, but very much "just another animated film" to me. Not enough stood out and some of the dialog really bothered me. There were some nice heartwarming moments here and there though. I'm sure Pixar will do a fine job, the director making their Day of the Dead film has been heavily involved with the Toy Story trilogy.

I actually liked the songs (when sung by Manolo) though I was disappointed that they only sang a couple of lines from "Can't Help Falling in Love With You".

Nope, It also good and even better than the first Monster Inc, for his narrative structure in a multiple point-of-view from tangible reality, tangible narration to introduce the world of plot, the world of plot itself, and the outerworld. You really need ballons to drive a huge technical movie like this, with this out-of-limit conception.

Pixar never made a colored Tim Burton-like, the final result whould be more sanitized, in consideration in filmography of Pixar. Even Tim Burton can't go so far.

Perfect movie for an all audience one, you can't make better.

Actually, there are certain elements I think that Pixar could have done better, including knowing where to avoid the kiddie trappings (the pig peeing on young Manolo, the Mariachi band, etc.). They probably also could have made it where the choice for Maria wasn't so blatant, but the writers here made Joaquin look like Gaston-lite instead. The movie is far from perfect for all audiences.

Pixar has had a good record up until recently with being innovative in their storytelling (Monsters Inc provides a reason as to why kids tend to think there's a monster in our closet, why they would need to scare us, and why the monsters never got very close). I think a Day of the Dead-inspired movie is rife with potential for the studio.

You know, since Up! as a remake of Rescuers down Under in the 2nd part, and the co-direction with WDAS, Pixar losts his magic, and I don't think since Frozen and PATF there'nt any flexibility to drive the audience in a better point-of-view of cinematography in the E! Industry.

Flatulences and other wee-wee are obligatory since Shrek. And don't put Mariachis in a Mexican movie... Some trolls could think that's racist.. (sighhh)

You're once again at a point where I have no idea what you're trying to say. I know you can write in English better than this.

This movie visually is 10/10, so I only see how Pixar can improve on other aspects. I'm also on the opinion that Pixar lost their magic since Up!.

One thing to note is also that Pixar style has always been very clean, like unpersonal, very conceptual like this year's title. They tend to avoid detail rich textures or designs. The only exception being probably Wall-E and Ratatouille (my preferred Pixar movies by the way), so they clearly have a challenge here.

Personally I don't like Pixar (gasp!) but... I guess we'll have to wait and see.

To each their own. I didn't like Inception or Gravity.

Who knows if the film is even still on the table. The decent success of Book of Life combined with the firestorm that was created when ...somone... at Disney or Pixar made the utter bone-headed move to seek copyright of a holiday could just cause Pixar to pitch it.

I think they will most likely do it way better. This movie was not too awful but I am sure Pixar could do something more realistic and a bit darker. I am not a Pixar groupie either of course I love Toy story and I have a soft spot for Monsters inc but most of their movies don't appeal that much to me. I always loved the tone of The Halloween Tree. It made day of the dead look so cool even though it was just a small sequence I would love something heartfelt and educational like that.

RIP Cory Monteith your fans miss you dearly
