The characters look like blocks and their lower bodies are smaller than their big upper body size. How did this win t he Annies?

The nose of the green guy while in human disguise crept me out.
The muerte lady is awesome designed.
Manolo and Joaquin werent my design taste either but it reminded me of Juan of the Guacamelee game.

I was confused as to how the Manolo and Joaquin looked like humans, and the old people looked like a cross between human & pig, like Maria's father.
