Couldn't get into it despite liking the visuals

I liked the visual style, but it seemed too busy at times.

I liked the young kids, but had zero interest in their love triangle as adults.

I liked some of the music, but the rest was bland.

I thought the film ended strongly, but couldn't rescue the hour or so of tedium.

A slightly darker film that had stronger notes, better music and funnier humour could really work. Or I could just replay Grim Fandango.
