Origins

"Sunset Song" is one of three segments (a trilogy of novels) called "A Scots Quair" by Lewis Grassic Gibbons. The three novels are "Sunset Song" (1932), "Cloud Howe" (1933) and "Grey Granite" (1934). "Sunset Song" was filmed previously for a BBC TV production. It was also aired here in the states on "Masterpiece Theatre." And by the way, a "quair" is a Scottish word meaning "book."
