A truly lovely film

At a lengthy 135 minutes, Sunset Song is content in its languidness. Davies spent years trying to get this film made, and now that he’s here he’s in no hurry to rush through and waste the opportunity. The result is a film composed of moments and moments in between moments; the visual realization of the stillness that exists in between the ticks of a heavy clock. Its narrative is reverential but unsentimental, sprawling but personal. There may be some who are put-off by the film’s deliberate pace and lengthy runtime. But Sunset Song is so achingly lovely and beautifully unique that length or pace concerns should be pushed aside. “There are lovely things in this world,” Chris says in one scene. “Lovely that do not endure and the lovelier for that.” The modern world will still be waiting for you beyond the theater. For the 2 hours and 25 minutes you’re watching Sunset Song, strive to hold onto that finite loveliness just a little longer: http://www.cutprintfilm.com/reviews/sunset-song/

To each his own. I was bored out of my mind.

So we'll put! I concur. A lovely film that allows you to become completely immersed into the story. It takes its time which is so rare in films today. This is a gem and one to go on my "favorites" list.
