What happened to Yerena and Kevin?

At the start, they are taken away somewhere on the ship, and we never hear from them again. What happened?

I'm about 85% complete with the game and haven't seen them yet. It wouldn't surprise me if we run into them in the final fight though (Just a guess, no facts).

I'm guessing they would of flown away with serpo on the helicopter in the beginning but since the quarantine zone was wiped out and there was no sign of them maybe they were tested on and died in the proses or who knows they could be in the next one
