season 2

I don't mind the change of actor tbh.

BUT i hate the change of the character. First actor was sarcastic, cool, calm, much more controlled on his actions.

This one is too aggressive, too ... violent.

And the tone of the series changed. First had a lot of grey areas (the cop lady was amazing as opposed to this new bounty hunter "partner"). This one seems to focus on the action side of the show.

I really enjoyed the first half of the first season (until they fucked it up with the un-necessary sister character-story arc) but this one feels ... bland, generic action flick.

Even the AI has changed (or maybe is the Scrat effect = turning an episodic comic relief character into a secondary permanent one, and the writers don't know how to fill the extra time).

I don't like the new actor's face.

He has that weird "wall eyed" look where his eyes are more on the side of his head than facing forward. He was okay in Avengers though but most because he was a cheerful character. I saw the trailer for this and was like Whoa at his face.

Also, I loved the books but the first season had nothing to do with them, that much, and the lead character isn't Chinese, he's a mix like Keanu Reeves and so I thought they were doing some racist stuff. There also wasn't enough world building as there is in the book.

I might check it out but there seems to be a lot of changes so it's like a completely different show, lol.

I am also hating Anthony Mackies take on Takeshi Kovacs.
The sarcasm, the humour, world weary aloofness- all of it has gone.
I simply just don’t buy that this is the same character in a different sleeve which is what the entire premise of the show/world is built upon.

I am only on episode 4 and it is definitely getting better as it goes along but boy, those first 2 episodes were a struggle.

I don’t want to spoil anything but so far the only thing keeping me engaged are all the ‘faces’ that are familiar from Season 1.

After 3 episodes it feels like a crappy fanfic.

I hear in Season 3 if they do make it (I hope) it will be a woman sleeve this time. Each time you transfer to a new sleeve, you change a bit or rather your stack does so it makes sense he isn't really completely the same as before (spirit degrades; can't quantify the change but they are not the same). You know this once you watch the first episode when he goes back to the old hotel where he meets some Japanese dude he saved 300 years ago from the Protectorate.

reply

Why not... then we can have rainbows with unicorns as sleeves and who knows, 70 year old men in nappies doing the part. Needing mom and pops to be his partners as they investigate some nuance involving something sinister that affects everything.

ugh, this .. I can't even get through the first episode. ahh well, we'll always have most of season 1.

Even if Daniel Jackson is in this, it's not enough to bring me into a new bad show based on a previously good show.

est quod est.

And yet people can recognise friends/enemies/loved ones in a new sleeve even though they don't know about the resleeving and the person has only spoken a single sentence? No.

I liked season 2, and finished it in a row.

I liked it too. I don't get the hate.
